I don't have anything of my own to share today, but I do have this.

Proof that "the apple does not fall far from the tree."
This is my mother's newest finished quilt top.
I think it is fabulous! It is 45 inches square.

Quilting, Quilting and Some Crochet Too!

I did some tiny piecing on the above project.

I had my Husband help me get my quilt frame back down from the attic. Lots of UFOs that I can finish up with the frame to quilt them on.

I also started trying to figure out writing up a pattern for my crochet Cthulhu.

This is my first paper pieced project.
Also my first try at machine quilting. The quilting is not great, but it is good with little bits of not so good.

7 Random Things About Me

I was Tagged to tell 7 random things about myself.

1. My favorite hobby is sewing of any kind.

2. My 2nd favorite hobby is reading. I will read almost anything from the Classics to Science fiction.

3. I save really tiny scraps of fabric. (some are only an inch or so.) Because I know someday I will be inspired to make something that needs them.

4. I have tried and have the supplies for several types of crafts including; Quilting, Costume making, Crochet, Knitting, Cross stitch, Embroidery, Beading,Scrap booking, Chip Carving, Sculpy Clay, Card Making and Origami.

5. I still like to color. I have been known to buy myself a coloring book and my own box of crayons.

6. I like Peanut butter and Pickle Sandwiches.

7. My favorite board game is scrabble.

I know I am supposed to tag 3 other people to tell 7 random things about their selves but most of the people I would tag have already done so (or something similar).

Quilted Love

Usually Making my bed is low on my list of things to do. But today I got a box in the mail from my Parents. And from almost 1400 miles away my mom got me to make my bed and straighten up my room. She made for and sent to me this quilt.

Even the back looks pretty!

I had made A Mario themed lap quilt for Erik. I mailed it to her to quilt and it looks amazing too.



I also got a nice addition to my stash of Fat Quarters for My Dear Jane. Some Quarter yard cuts and different odd pieces of fabric. So I am off to start pre-washing.

I also finished this months Noah's Ark BOM.

Dress and Purse!

Hooray! The dress is done and it fits!
I was worried about what such a large print would look like, but it turned out very nice.

I made a small evening bag from some of the left over materials.
The Handle of the Bag called for a Bangle bracelet. I could not find one I liked.
I made the handle out of boning covered in fabric.

Sparkles

Outside of my quilting projects I have been working on a dress, for my niece.

This week I am sewing on the sparkly bits, beaded trim, and sequins.

OOPs-I thought it would be easy to use the sequins if I placed them in this little plastic box. Not true. The static Electricity makes them jump out of the box (like popcorn) every time I move the box.

Myra made L-4 for her Quilt. I helped quite a bit with this one. We should of paper pieced, but I tried cutting individual pieces for her. I will have to teach her to piece with paper soon.

Butterfly no. 4

This Fan/Butterfly takes a little more Imagination, to see it as a butterfly. But it is my favorite.

Each of the kids received a little snail in an egg, for Easter.
I found the pattern here.

I also finished the 3rd of 4 Butterflies. Now I need to remember where I put the printout I made for the last butterfly.

Myra's Thursday quilt.

Myra had this Idea for her next block. We drafted the block in Quilt-pro and made some templates for her to use.
Myra also picked out the other blocks she wants in her quilt.

B-13 redone

I remade block b-13, using original green and adding a light green in place of the white.
From now on I will be making all the blocks Different shades of the same color. I think I will be using black for the sashing. But have not decided whether it will be a tone on tone black or solid black sashing.

Surprise mail delivery of three Easter Fabrics. I am sending out a a great big "THANK YOU!"
to the sender of this package. You know who you are. (I also mailed a note of thanks.)

Myra's 2nd Block

Myra did Thursday Night sewing. She is making pink and green quilt blocks.

The Bunnies are part of a Noah's Ark BOM at http://lynetteandersondesigns.typepad.com.
I measured wrong and the block did not come out the 31/2 inches it should have. (but it is close.) I will have to make tiny adjustments to the whole project to get this first block to fit into place.

Quilting is Universal

I finished, with plenty of time.

I am all set for Starting Dear Jane. I can't seem to make up my mind about the color. I probably won't have my mind set about the background color until I go get the fabric.

Quilting!

Above is this years Alien quilt. I finished the appliqué yesterday. I am working on hand quilting it today.

Hooray! I got my Dear Jane book in the mail today! But I must finish the above quilt before I start on Dear Jane.

Two Firsts!

Myra's First knit square. She used a crochet hook to bind off.

Also this is my first Knit Doily Style Dishcloth.

Pink and Green Doily

I spent the last two weeks, off and on between other projects, working on this doily.
I found the pattern in, The Complete Book of Crochet, by Elizabeth L. Mathieson.
Published in 1946.
There is no Pattern name just a A Number, 7690.
Finished doily measures 12 inches.

I joined the monthly Bookmark group on yahoo groups, to practice lace knitting. I changed the pattern a little. ( I seem to be doing that a lot lately) I had to have a tassel. I Don't know why I just did.

The left one is sock yarn, leftover from my fist socks.
the middle on is scraps of wool.
And the right one is crochet thread.

I also joined a couple of dish cloth groups.

Winter

The Kids finally had enough snow to play in. It was mixed with a little sleet.
They had fun for about 40 minutes before dinner.

This Morning, all the pretty snow was covered with Ice.

I made this doily about 12-13 years ago. It was my first big crochet project. It is 16 inches in diameter.

I have found myself looking through all my doily books, wanting to do a knit doily. Are knit doilies difficult? I tried to knit what looked to be a simple knit bookmark and made so many mistakes I finally just put it aside. (threw it away!) Any suggestions for an easy knit lace project before I try a round doily?
