Southwest Bunny Quilt

This Quilt is my Favorite quilt that I have finished. I made this quilt while visiting my parents, in New Mexico, one summer. It was my second completed queen size quilt, and my first quilt designed by me. It is also the largest amount of machine applique I have ever done on a single quilt. The inspiration for this quilt is taken from Native American art, including rugs, jewelry, and petrogliphs.

My Mom quilted the quit on her long-arm machine. I used an existing butterfly border and a book of southwest clip art to design the continuous line pattern used in the mesa areas.

I also made two matching pillow shams

Here is a flat view of the quilt.

I gave this quilt to my parents.
A big thank you to my Mom and Dad for taking the time to take new pictures of this quilt.

My aunt collects quilts and is a photographer of local and distant native american (by permission only of course). If she ever saw this, I am quite certain it would be her favorite quilt.

Quilters are such special people! Your parents must treasure this so much. I love that they sent you pictures so you could share it here.

I love the stories behind each quilt, too. I once completed a 75-year-old family quilt top that was begun by a grandmother I never got to meet. I wrote about it here. It was quite an emotional experience for me.

Love your blog!

Wow -- this is wonderful. I'm so glad you were able to include a new picture so we could see all the borders. You have a real eye for design and the colors are perfect.

I'm having so much fun going thru these quilts. I'm in complete awe of so many - including yours. Great job.
