What I did this week..

Coasters! Two above are from earlier this month.
The four below are from the last 8 days.

A Dishcloth made with orange cotton yarn.
Pattern found free online.

The Start of a pair of Geek Mittens.

And just for fun we put Cthulhu in a pickle jar!

I also spent a little time knitting on my garter stitch shawl, Trying to use up the acrylic yarn.
I should probably not call it garter stitch, since it is turning into a make it up as I go along project.

Geek Mittens

This mitten was inspired by several patterns. Mainly the Binary scarf and the Linux illusion scarf.
The size is probably a Ladies small. I want the thumb and mitten to be about 1/2 inch longer to fit my husbands hand.

I used US1 dpns and worsted weight Lion Brand wool. It is nice and thick and warm. Later I will have to knit it a mate for myself. But first I want to finish Shawn a pair in time for his birthday. He would like yarn in two shades of brown. I will have to see what I can find.

Edit: It says Null, begin text, space, S, h, a, w, n, space.

A little of this...

And a little of that.
A Garter square made for practice. Came out of the box and turned into a bunny. ( forget where but there was a tutorial online for this.)

A drink can cozy, I Knit a little large. OOPs! I will try the pattern again with out adding the eyelets.

A crochet drink can cozy that turned out just right (improvised). A wire crochet bunny ( found in a thrifted magazine), waiting to be finished into a pin. and a wine glass coaster, flip flop (found at the )
I started some secret mittens.

The local Hobby Lobby is sold out. The store near my mother is sold out. *sigh* Maybe I will put the stitches on a scrap of yarn and hibernate this is hopes of finding the yarn. I matches my felted scarf so well, I am not really wanting to give up on it.

Felted Scarf

Felted Scarf

Felted! The leaves turned out a little strange. I was hoping I knit them large enough to keep more of their shape. But I looks good, with the leaves cut off and sewn back on. And some of the 3d bobbles turned out a little off. The disk shapes I used to felt them shifted and some even tried to push through the Knit. The Bobbles inside the flowers turned out exactly as I dreamed. They are still soft and Springy.

I found a nice Vintage pattern for the leaf edging and will be adding it to both ends. I Learned a new technique and Attached the green to the Multi with a three needle bind off.
I Have also made one crochet flower as a pattern test. I am making the flowers with white so I can dye them with Kool-aid after I have made them .

Crochet Cthulhu

I looked at pictures of similar dolls made by others, and became inspired to give a try at crocheting one. It took about 7 hours to make. I just made it up as I went along, starting with the head. After finishing the head, I had the idea of moving arms and legs. Shawn said the hands had to have at least three "fingers". The hardest bit to make up was the wings. I wish the pipe cleaner, at the top of the wings, was less visible.
