Summer Scarf

The Pattern: Oh, Helen!
The Yarn: Plymouth Shire Silk
Needles: US size 7

I changed the cast on to 21 stitches. I used 2 balls of yarn. the scarf is super long. It is a pretty Robin's egg kind of blue. The picture does not do the color justice.

Scarf and Mitts

I started the scarf in 2009. I an happy to have it finished. I Had enough yarn left I made the Mitts to match. I still have just enough yarn for a hat to match the mitts.

Project bags

I saw some very similar bags while I was out yesterday. The smaller bag is just a little larger than a yarn cake(ball). The larger bag is almost 7.5 inches to a side and is a nice size for a project.

Another Bag

First a improvised knit bracelet. I made using a milk cap from the chocolate milk at Wendy's, and some faceted plastic beads. I knit with #10 crochet cotton thread.
I cut the cap down to half its height and used a stencil cutter to poke holes in the cap.
I then crochet around cap to make it into a big cameo like bead.

Another beaded bracelet, made using DMC floss and glass seed beads. Also use a magnetic clasp instead of a toggle.

I made, for a Birthday gift, another Granny Square bag. I used I Love this Yarn Sparkle in a purple shade and odd leftover bits of Red heart in pink and light purple. It is lined with a pink bandanna. ( don't know why the picture is sideways. It is not so in my files. crazy!)

I have also given in to the urge to start a Silke Jacket. I am using Naturally Caron Spa in Stormy Blue. The yarn is a wonderfully soft Bamboo, and Acrylic blend.

I started this hat last spring. I am working on finishing all my started knit or crochet projects.
This was fun to knit.

Space Art

Really a fun project to sew. Designed by me. The Central figure did come from North American Indian Motifs (a book of Clip art).

Fingerless Mitts for Me

The pattern is Hedgerow Mitts.

The pattern suggested solid yarn but....
I really like the way these fit. I chose the yarn to go with both of my winter coats(purple and Red). Here is the Ravelry link, if you want more info.

Dear Jane Tote

I had this wall hanging of Dear Jane block that needed binding. I sat down to do that, but decide to make it into a bag instead. I love it.
I has the red fabric of the first bag I made on one side and two inner pockets.

Binding

I actually finished a quilt today! It has been waiting for binding since last July.

I also made a really large tote bag. The bag pattern is a altered version of the tote in the April 2011 American Patchwork and quilting. I made the bag an inch and a half wider and squared off the bottom instead of having gathered round corners. I also left off the ties on the outside of the bag that slightly gathered the sides. It is big enough now to hold a 16 inch laptop.

I plan to make more of these tote bags. (even follow directions.) I think it would make a great Knitting bag if I add a few pockets to the inside.

Bias

I just turned half a yard of fabric into 15 yards of continuous bias binding. the pattern calls for 103 inches. I think I got it covered. *laughing*

Knit Beaded Bracelets

This pink and white one above, was my first try at this pattern.
I used glass seed beads and variegated embroidery floss.

This second bracelet is for Myra. She pick the beads out last summer, while we were on vacation in Colorado. We had been trying to decide what to make with them when I got the bracelet pattern book.

Two Granny Square Bags

These are fun to make. The top one I made for a birthday gift at the end of December. The lower one has been a TV watching project for a few months and finished yesterday. The handles for both were recycled from thrifted purses.

Checking In

A small ornament from the 2010 Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament issue.
I left off the outer border, to keep it small.

Knit doll dress

Barbie dress #1
I knit this with baby yarn. It was a test knit of the top half of dress. I then went back and crochet the bottom of dress. And since the baby yarn made it bell like, I added a tulle underskirt.

Barbie dress #2
I used a finger weight wool, purchased at the thrift store.
I mostly followed the pattern for this one.

And Acorns
Each Acorn top was about 1 1/4 inches.
The leaves are paint stamped on felt.
Each Acorn body has three sections, using scraps of fabric from my Dear Jane quilt project.
I was thinking mini pincushion, but think it would make nice ornament as well.

Stamp made special, just for this. Stamp is made from a small piece of linoleum block, and is about 2 inches.

Knit shawl started

Yarn: Bernat Satin, Flamingo
Pattern found here.

I did paint a little more on Thursday. I decided to paint the medicine cabinet off-white. The cabinet was green. I have just left it for the past several years because I was just happy to have a nice big cabinet. I found it at a yard sale for $15 dollars. It is one of those with three doors and very fancy framework around the mirror. It took a long time to paint all those little details.
