Dreams do come true

Two years ago I bought two skeins of sock yarn, with the dream of learning to knit. Three days ago I took the plunge and started a sock. The sock will be my fourth ever finished knitting project. Hopefully before the end of the month I will have a pair. Today I made the turn in the heel and I felt such a super sense of accomplishment. I hope to finish the first sock tomorrow and cast the second one on, committing myself to finishing the pair. Unfortunately the sock I picked is too small for me to wear. But I tried it on Myra's foot and it is just right. And she is super excited mom is knitting her socks.

She said " I thought you did not know how to knit." To which I answered " I am Learning how."

Thanks to all the bloggers who share their craftiness with the rest of us, for providing me with inspiration and courage to try something new.

Thanks to ~*~Knitting Up A Storm~*~ for leaving me a comment and giving me that last little nudge over the edge to get started on a sock.

And here it is in progress. My first sock.

The pattern was found on http://knittingasfastasican.com. It is the Horcrux Socks.

I also spent a lot of time watching the videos on http://www.knittinghelp.com. Learning to yo, k2tog, ssk and p2tog, and watching the heel turn process.

I know it probably should not take me all month to finish one pair of socks but sometimes "things" come up. I set my goal for the end of this month because I know I will have to do Halloween costumes and I might feel the urgent need to start something unexpected ( just like I did when I started the sock! ).

I also did a prototype of a pirate shirt to find out how long It take to sew the shirt up. 8 hrs and 20 minutes. I blame the ruffles for taking up the most time. And I am super picky about the details of hemming and button holes. Also I hate the look of those little metal grommets and they usually fall out on me so I sewed all the eyelets.

wow! That's great!!! You are totally on top of things... 1.) You didn't just do plain stockinette as your first, you plunged right into the good stuff, and 2.)You trained yourself early to start the second on immediately upon the first sock's completion, so you don't get second sock syndrome!
You are going places, lady!! :)

I knit two at the same time now so the 2nd one always gets done.

Great socks!
